El Chupito Diario

Hola nosotros amigos!  That's about as much spanish as I know.  That's because I didn't learn another language between the ages of zero and six like entrepreneur, Julia Pimsleur says I should.

As a guest on today's Daily Shot, Pimsleur introduces her language-learning tool, Little Pim, to Ali and John.  Before quizzing our earnest hosts on basic spanish vocabulary, the three of them discuss whether too much praise for your kid can be a negative thing.

As two individuals struggling to nail saying "cheese" in a foreign language, John and Ali will be the first to tell you that if you mess up, someone should tell you so you can get up and try again.  Particularly if you're under six years old.

We Can Work it Out

It's day of paradoxes in this episode of Daily Shot.  In honor of National Sleep Week, Ali and John get out of bed and get some exercise.  And as they prepare for energized afternoon, they go over ways to get your kids to sleep.  Are you a parent who won't hesitate to tell your kids how adept you are at getting your kids to bed on time?  Ali doesn't believe you.

For today's Olympic themed episode, your Daily Shot host and co-host practice some feats of strength, speed, and skill as they go over the day's top stories:

Should kids watch violent cartoons?  Elton John disses Madonna.  And we tell you how to get rid of those pesky baby pictures on your Facebook newsfeed.

Tune in to see Ali and John duke it out while the news gets out.

Two enter.  Two will leave...or will they?

A Farm Fresh Daily Shot

From the scenic farmland of Amagansett, NY, Ali  and John discuss the tragic losses that both Sylvester Stallone and Eagles Coach, Andy Reid, have suffered in the death of their sons.  Ali expresses her sympathies, and shares some of her thoughts on addiction, and how it's not restricted no matter your background.

Then on the lighter side, the Daily Shot duo take a walk through Balsam Farms to pickup some fresh fruit and vegetables.  It turns out that build Noah's ark can be quite a pickle, they pepper in their thoughts on chinese body doubles, and as far as condom availability for Olympic athletes goes, it's all peaches.

I understand these produce jokes are bit corny...aww shucks.

Stay tuned for more Daily Shot!

Back from Vacation and Life on Mars

On their first day back from vacation, Ali and John discuss the debatable relevance of the Mars Curiosity Rover.  Donned in pajamas from last night's sleepover, Ali listens with skepticism as John struggles to defend the event's significance.

While brushing their teeth and making pancakes, they discuss Italy's banning the insult of telling a man he has "no balls", a double amputee competing in the olympics, and Hooters trying to cater to women.

"I don't know any woman that would go to a restaurant called 'Testicles' either."  Ali quips.

Stay tuned for more Daily Shot.  Happy "Make a water balloon implant day"!  Ali and John are going back to sleep.

Compromise at the Dinner Table

Live from the Workshop!  On last Friday's episode of Daily Shot, Ali sat down with her longtime friend, Katie Brown, for some much needed dinner advice.

Every day, Katie and her staff field as many questions as they can from their web audience, and play the role of cook/shrink to help them.  As one KBW staff member puts it, "They have issues."

Ali, being no exception, approaches Katie Brown with an issue of her own.  How to serve one meal everyone can agree on?  When it comes to the dinner, adults and kids have different tastes (no pun intended!).  Is there any way to put something on the table that can have everyone your 2-year old to grandpa asking for more?

Watch as Katie cooks up some middle-of-the-road-meeting magic the whole family can enjoy!

This is also the final episode with Katie Brown guest hosting, as Ali returns from vacation to retake the reins the following week.  Thanks for everything Katie!  Hope to have you back sometime.  Your creativity has left us all a little craftier.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time! Peanut Butter Jelly Time!

On last Thursday's Daily Shot, guest-host Katie Brown reinvented the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  After getting complaints from her kids that she was making too many of them, Katie cast a virtual net far and wide to get people's tips on how revamp this staple of American snacking.

Well, the troops answered the call, and suggestions came pouring in.  Katie picks her three favorite and makes them on the show.  Peanut butter and jelly pizza, anyone? How 'bout a PB and J sushi wrap?  Ever replace bread with sliced apples?  Sounds just crazy enough to work.

We here at Reel Life Film couldn't think of a better way celebrate our very own John Carhart's birthday.

Hope it was a good one, John!

Monday

It's a Craft Off!

Ready.  Set.  Create!  On Wednesday's vacation week episode of Daily Shot, Katie Brown set up a craft competition.  It's Ali and John vs. Katie's assistants, Michael Kelly.  Team Daily Shot vs Team KB Workshop! Each team is given an identical set of materials, and 15 minutes to make their masterpiece.

Clink on the link above to watch the enthralling battle of creativity, resourcefulness, few underhanded cheap shots.  Who will win Katie Brown's nail-biter-to-the-finish Craft Off?  Cue "Eye of the Tiger".

A Fun New Way to Serve Up H2O!

On Tuesday, Daily Shot's guest host, Katie Brown, sat with Ali and dished over creative ways to get your kids to drink water.  Katie's solution...you guessed it: give your kids the opportunity to craft their very own drinking glass!  Let them do everything from glittering their name on it to pasting on stars and googly eyes.  We might even make some of our own here at the office.

You can even make a flowery chart to reward your kids with pedals for every glass they drink, or serve up some ice cubes with strawberries sealed in them.  Who said water's boring?

So check out the rest of our Daily Shot vacation week!  Lots more crafty stuff headed your way.  Until then, stay hydrated folks!

Katie Brown Makes Mini Golf Magic!

This week we've been lucky enough to have the incomparable Katie Brown guest host Daily Shot while Ali's on vacation.  Check out Monday's episode in which Ali and John help Katie build a Miniature Golf course right in her own backyard!  That's right, folks.  You heard me.  MINI GOLF made from nothing but junk and common household items that could give your local Putt-Putt a run for their money.
Stay tuned to hear even more of her fun craft ideas.

Until then,  happy Make a bird nest bikini top day!
